Black and White Landscape Photography – Kevin OConnell

Black and White Prints

Black and White pictures are also known as monochrome prints. Sometimes when I am photographing a very dramatic landscape, the use of Black and White is more compelling. I have used monochrome film a lot over the years because it really gives an image that fine art feel. Historic and iconic architecture also shows extremely well as a Black and White image, where-as color sometimes does not.

Black and White photography is my favorite for fine art and street imagery. Unlike color, a monochrome photograph shows the the absolute beauty and mystery of the subject. Weather conditions can cause others to pack it up and go home, while others take advantage of a pure Black and White. Some of these images are on Black and White Infrared Film.
